Dee Yates
Dee Yates is a publisher, photographer, and entrepreneur who has spent 25 years in print media — producing over one million magazines, selling millions in advertising, and building two publishing businesses from scratch without a degree, without investors, and without anyone's permission.
She started at 17 with a camera. Built a six-figure photography business. Shot covers and features for HERLIFE Magazine, learned the publishing business from the inside, and eventually bought the magazine. She became its owner, publisher, and editor-in-chief.
In 2024, she acquired Ropers Sports News — a 58-year-old legacy publication known as the Roping Bible — and transformed it from a black-and-white newspaper into a modern, glossy lifestyle magazine.
She is the author of Write Your Own Damn Story and the founder of Magazine Mastery, where she teaches creative people how to launch and run profitable print magazines. She teaches what no school offers — because no school for this exists.
